FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Q.

How long does the grieving process take?

A.

We all experience grief in different ways and that’s ok.  It takes time to adjust and accept our loss and the length of time this takes varies for many reasons.

Q.

Can I go for counselling many years after the bereavement or loss?

A.

Yes.  In counselling we work with whatever is important to you.  It is never too late to explore, reflect and learn more about ourselves and how our history has impacted on us and our relationships.

Q.

I’m concerned I might cry.

A.

Sometimes when we’ve held things in, exploring them often results in an emotional release, which may be accompanied by tears.  Tissues are provided just for this reason. Crying is accepted and welcomed here.

Q.

Can I come for counselling following the death of a pet?

A.

Definitely.  We can have a very close bond with our pets and we can be very affected by the loss.

Q.

How can counselling help me?

A.

Many people find sharing their experience of loss with a counsellor or psychotherapist helpful in the exploration of how the loss has affected their life and relationships.
